|
Well, I would answer that with a few questions.
Do you have R5 in Vanguard yet?
I found Vanguard to be the only rep I couldn't get R5 with just quests, missions, dungeons, and normal exploring. I HAD to farm. (Some may argue with that statement, but lets save that discussion for another thread) So if you dont have R5 Vangaurd, I would go with that.
Have you completed "The Path of Revelation" quest?
Keeping that quest uncompleted is by far the best way to farm Norn points. I will give you SEVERAL easy boss kills. If you have already completed that quest, farm for Norn points this weekend.
Otherwise, go with Asura.
Dwarf would be a bad choice regardless due to them being so easy to get with dungeons and Snowman cave runs.

I agree, the Snowman cave is fun(except for the hassle part where you get the dungeon key). I'd save that for last.

Yeah at first I didn't bother with that and just resigned or mapped back. But then I realized there's a chest and I may as well get the holiday items.

OK, new plan for me:
Get a Ritualist to level 20 ASAP to get the Norn armor for him.
If time, get my Ranger to 20 ASAP to get Norn armor, too!
(for some reason, I have 11 characters, but only 3 level 20s!)

Unlike many others, I'm not obsessed with having maxed titles. I'll only get my monk's rep titles to r5 and that's it. No, I don't want the armors. What my 10 characters currently wear is just fine. I just want to improve the rep skills a little instead.

Was saying beginning of last week if that weekend was a double points one was gonna be kinda pissed after grinding the points for my sin. Co-incidence? Ah well, out of the 3 people I was getting EotN armour for, 2 have it, and one went elsewhere as I couldn't be bothered with the grind.
Specs here I come!

OK, I'll bite.
I do hate this crap. Have awful chest drops all year, except for one weekend when you can farm r9 golds to your hearts content? Ditto greens. Now the same with armour, via reputation. How is this good design? Why isn't the game balanced so these weekends aren't necessary?
Stuff 'em. I deleted all my lvl 20 toons in reaction to GW:EN, and I ain't rushing back for bonus boredom.

These weekends aren't necessary. But once you've played all the campaigns and done all the missions and side-quests, you're going to be bored. So you'll either look elsewhere for entertainment, or look for something else to do within GW. I like bashing pixels on a screen, it's how I relax after a long day. I understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's one way players can keep themselves occupied for the moment. What alternative would you have the game present you with, aside more time on part of the dev team creating missions and storylines?

Hmmm.... I think you're missing my point. I'm not saying bonus weekends are a bad idea, but too often they feel like a temporary fix for some aspect of the game that sucks. And the difference can often be rather extreme - with the chests example, I went from under-equipped, mostly collector weapons to golds for all classes in a couple of days. I didn't even spend that much, because at the time I was rather poor. After a couple of those weekends I started disposing of any gold that wasn't r9 - simply because there wasn't much point in keeping anything else. That's the absolute opposite of the usual experience of playing the game.
Now we have a weekend were grinding for armour will be considerably less painfull - but it's OK that it goes back afterwards? Why? It's like a torturer stopping to put a bandaid on you and mop your brow, while the generator charges up.
